ONLINE LEARNING

In many ways online learning is becoming the go-to solution for many students, especially for higher education. There is a lot of evidence that shows the student’s taking online courses actually understand the material better.

In 2009 the U.S. Department of Education’s began to investigate online learning and how it was effecting students. The report states, “The overall finding of the meta-analysis is that classes with online learning (whether taught completely online or blended) on average produce stronger student learning outcomes than do classes with solely face-to-face instruction” (Means, Toyama, Murphy, & Baki,, 2009, p. 37).

During CEP 820: Teaching Students Online, I had the chance to convert a traditional face-to-face training session to a blended learning classroom. Students would have a week to make their way through the content and then would travel to a specific location to complete an assessment.
